•Oleander, or Nerium oleander, is a member of the periwinkle family and one of the simplest and most popular plants. It has stiff, oblong, grey-green leaves and beautiful, uniquely shaped flowers. Oleander blooms profusely from early summer until autumn.•WATERING Although oleander is a Mediterranean plant, it is important to water it regularly during hot weather in the summer months of June, July, and August.•WINTERING Oleander can overwinter outdoors: it is moderately cold-hardy and can withstand temperatures as low as about -6 degrees Celsius. In mild winters with little or no frost, you can leave potted oleander in a sheltered spot, protected from wind and rain.•PRUNING Prune as little as possible. If the plant becomes too large or the branches become unsightly, you can prune it (significantly), preferably in the autumn before bringing it indoors, or at the beginning of the year, in February or March.
