Nestled in the Corbières hills, on the Fontfroide terroir ("cold springs"), Domaine de Cigalus benefits from the refreshing influence of this unique environment, allowing for great ampelographic freedom, from the earliest to the latest ripening grape varieties. Gérard Bertrand has maintained the previous owner's approach of using a diverse range of red grapes (Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, Caladoc, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan) and white grapes (Chardonnay, Viognier, Sauvignon), to produce exceptional and decidedly atypical wines.
