Known throughout the world, Château Cheval Blanc, a Premier Grand Cru Classé A, is one of the legendary estates of the Right Bank wines of the Bordeaux region. The estate's second wine, Petit Cheval, offers a superb introduction to the excellence of the great Cheval Blanc, with elegant, powerful wines and a palate of vibrant, luscious fruit. With a new winery designed by Christian de Portzamparc and inaugurated in June 2011, Château Cheval Blanc continues to write the legend of Bordeaux's greatest wines. Château Cheval Blanc benefits from a unique and rare terroir, enjoying a special position on the Saint-Émilion plateau. While the Saint-Émilion appellation is known for its limestone formations, Château Cheval Blanc is situated on the Quaternary alluvial deposits of the Isle, a non-calcareous formation with a varied texture, combining gravel and clay soils in roughly equal proportions.
