Trachycarpus fortunei, also known as the Chinese windmill palm or windmill palm, is a very cold-hardy palm species. In China (its region of origin), it grows up to 2400 meters in altitude. Its foliage is evergreen, and in adulthood, it can reach a height of 12 meters. The specific epithet, Trachycarpus fortunei, was given in honor of Robert Fortune, an English botanist.
