The 310 mm X and XC series brake rotors feature EBC's unique, patented S-Drive button system. The square rivets in this system, located in square drive pockets between the disc blade and the hub, allow the blade to expand and contract freely under heavy braking, preventing rivet lock-up. Rivet lock-up occurs when the rotors overheat during heavy braking and the disc blades come into contact with the rivets (normally circular) located between the blade and the central hub. This new EBC system completely eliminates this problem, which is responsible for 100% of brake disc damage caused by distortion and brake vibrations.
